IRIS 1099
02Which template?
Start from where you file.
- FATCA 2
- You report to the IRS directly through IDES (Model 2 or direct reporting).
- FATCA 1
- You report to a local authority such as HMRC, ACD, the CRA or the ITD: choose your jurisdiction, or Global.
- IRIS 1099
- You file Forms 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC through the IRS IRIS system.
How to use them
-
Download the template for your jurisdiction or form.
-
Replace the sample rows with your own data, keeping the column headers.
-
Check identifiers first: GIIN format with the GIIN Validator, and the ITDREIN for India (16 characters).
-
Generate your XML, then check it with the XML Validation Tool before you submit.
IRIS filing uses the IRS’s own CSV templates. Our IRIS workbook is a data-preparation worksheet. For the actual upload, log in to the IRIS Taxpayer Portal, choose Upload CSV with Form Data, and download the official template for your form type.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Something else? Ask our team
Are the templates free?
Yes. Fill in the short form once and the download starts straight away; every other template is then one click for 30 days.
What’s in each template?
Column headers that follow the fields of the schema or form, and sample rows showing the expected formats. The IRIS workbook also has an instructions sheet and separate 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC sheets.
Do the templates include test data?
Yes. Every template ships with fictional sample rows so you can see how each field is formatted. Replace them with your own data.
Can I use these templates for production reporting?
They’re a starting point for organising your data. For production filings, the Novus platform validates your data against the schema and business rules before any XML is generated.
Are the IRIS 1099 templates the official IRS CSV templates?
No. The IRS requires its own CSV templates for actual IRIS filing; download them from the IRIS Taxpayer Portal. Ours are data-preparation worksheets: they help you organise and check your data before you map it into the official template.
Why are 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC on separate sheets?
IRIS requires separate upload files per form type, so the two can’t share a file. The worksheet follows that separation.
What are the IRIS filing deadlines for tax year 2026?
Form 1099-NEC is due to the IRS and to recipients by February 1, 2027. Form 1099-MISC is due to recipients by February 1, 2027, and to the IRS by March 31, 2027 when filed electronically.
Is there a CRS template?
Not on this page yet. For CRS v3.0, the Novus platform generates the XML from your data; contact us if you need a CRS worksheet.
